Cinderella, a story of overcoming
One of humanity’s most popular fairy tales, Cinderella or Gata Borralheira has populated the collective imagination for centuries. The most famous version is that of French writer Charles Perrault from 1697, based on a popular Italian tale called La gatta cenerentola (“The Cinderella”). However, the older version originates from China around 860 BC Another famous version is the Grimm brothers, but in this one there is no fairy godmother figure.
